Four SEO Case Study Videos, The Truth of Ranking #1 in Google SERP

Today, I finally finished watching all the video tutorials and case studies from Mark Thompson's SEO Debunked.

 

SEO Debunked consist of six video tutorials, one private plugin, three SEO diaries, and four case studies. However, the most interesting part of it, is the video case study. 

 

The first three videos is a case study of the winners of SEO competition hosted by Wordpress Goldmine forum, targeting "Fitness Bootcamp" keyword. Mark Thompson it self is the forum owner and has 100 sites ranking high in Google. 

 

In this three videos, we are led to see and compare the step by step's action taken by each website that made them the winner of the competition. Starting from how they built the website, what theme and plugins installed, how they structured the website, and what kind of content they use in their website. After that, the video also discussed on how they build backlinks overtime.

 

Video case study #4, is even more interesting. This video discusses how a 3-month-old website could become #1 in a super competitive niche. Not only it became #1 in the search results, it was also gets PageRank 6 in merely three months!

Donny, Achieving Perfect Score for On-Page SEO

Hi Donny,

 

Since Google Panda, the role of a unique quality article with minimum 500 words and optimize with the on-page SEO is become more important than before. When the competition is low, even with only good on-page SEO now we will be able to get into the first page of Google search results.

 

I am always use Easy WP SEO plugin to handle all-aspect of my website On-Page SEO. Basically, it'll compare our page (it create a preview of what our article look like when Google come to visit) with a list of On-Page optimization. When the plugin found something that not in the list, it will tried to create it automatically, but when it can't, it will tell us so we can fix it manually.

 

Of course you can always handle those On-Page aspect manually. To help you with that, you can download the checklist of On-Page SEO to be compare with your article here.

Usually, it is quiet easy to achieve 80%+ score, but to achieving the perfect 100% On-Page score is kind of difficult.

 

Here are some tricks that I usually used to get the perfect 100% on-page score:

 

#1. Keyword inside H1, H2, and H3 title

 

H1 - Make sure your theme using H1 for post title.

H2 - We can add subtitle with keyword in H2 format right after the article title or inside the article content.

H3 - Similar to H2 above, or we can make the title of Related Post in H3 format and contain targeted keyword(s). 

 

For example: "Posts Related to Post Title (which always contain keyword)"

 

#2. Description meta tag begins with keyword.

 

Make the description begin with keywords. If it is not possible to form a sentence, we can always create a description like this one:

 

"Main Keywords. Short description about the article here."

 

#3. Content contains keyword in anchor text of at least one external link.

 

Change a keyword to be a link to other website. But never link to competitor's website. The easiest way is creating a link to websites like Wikipedia, About.com, or even Google itself.

 

For example:

 

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=MAIN+KEYWORD

http://www.google.com/search?q=MAIN+KEYWORD

http://search.about.com/?q=MAIN+KEYWORD

etc.

 

If you choose to hide those external links, you can always make it not to look like a link by using a code like this:

 

<a style="color: #333" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=MAIN+KEYWORD">MAIN KEYWORD</a>

 

Change the color code #333 into your theme default font color.

 

The other on-page SEO criteria are quiet easy to fulfill. So, with those tips and tricks above, I hope you could achieve perfect 100% on-page SEO score.

Donny, Important! Google Panda Update and SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2

 Hi Donny,

 

Related to the latest Google's algorithm update known as Panda, I think it is necessary to deliver several important information as follows:

 

As you know, Google Panda is intended to remove pages that are considered as low quality page from Google search. 

 

"Improve it or remove it. With Google's Panda Update, low-quality content can impact an entire domain, but removing these pages - or moving Them to a different domain - can help your rankings, " says Google's Michael Wyszomierski. 

 

Because of that reason, I don't recommend you to activate SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2's "Convert search terms into links to search page" feature.

 

This feature used to be a very good feature to increase indexed pages, but now it is better for you to not using it anymore. To make friend with Google Panda, always put high quality unique contents and strengthen On-Page SEO on the content page with the targeted keywords.

 

Some people even said that now, the most important thing is On-Page SEO, instead of backlink. For me, both are equally important, but I believe that On-Page SEO becomes way much more important than before Panda was updated.

 

As a guidance, you can download and print this On-Page SEO checklist.

 

For On-Page SEO automation, I used to use SEO pressor Plugin, but I don't use it anymore. I found out that Easy WP SEO plugin is way easier to use with more complete feature compared to SEO Pressor.

Step by Step Blueprint to Increase Traffic using Keywords from SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2

Hi Donny,

 

This time I would like to give you some ideas about what you can do with keywords from SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 plugin. As usual, the main purpose of this steps is to increase the number of visitors to your website. 

 

Below is the step by step blueprint of what I usually do: 

 

# 1. Grab all keywords from the 500 most popular and recent search terms on "WordPress Admin > Settings > SEO SearchTerms 2 > More stats: 500".

 

Or if you like to have more keywords, 1000 keywords for example, use this URL:

YOURSITE-COM/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=searchterms-tagging2.php&stats=1&count=1000

 

Change YOURSITE-COM with your blog URL, and count=1000 into any number of search terms that you want to retrieve.

 

# 2. Use Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find related keywords and to figure out how many traffic from each keyword. For you to remember, the limit of maximum input is 100 keywords, so this research process has to be done several times. And also remember to login first to your Google Adwords account to get a maximum 800 keywords in the result.

 

# 3. Filter the result base on Local Monthly Searches

(Exact Match) and Approximate CPC if your website displays Adsense ads. Personally, I use 300 Exact monthly searches and  a minimum Approximate CPC $1.

 

# 4. Export/download all filtered keywords to CSV file.

 

# 5. Combine all downloaded files from Google Keyword Tool into a single CSV file.

 

# 6. Import the CSV  file to your favorite keyword research software. I personally use Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer (SKCA), because it really simple and the result are easier to understand compare to Market Samurai.

 

# 7. Run SKCA to figure out how high the competition level is (based on the number of Allintitle competitors, each site's PageRank in page one, ect) and the level of commercialization of each keyword (based on how many ads appear in the search result, etc).

 

# 8. Export the final result from SKCA to CSV file.

 

# 9. Open CSV file from SKCA in Microsoft Excel. This is the superiority of SKCA, it gives rank for each keywords based on the competition level and the level of commercialization of the keyword and divides the category into 5: Terrible, Bad, Good, Great, and Excellent.

 

We can safely assume that all keywords in Excellent, Great and Good category are having good traffic, low level of competition and a lot of ads.

 

# 10. Write new article base on the keywords from SKCA, or edit the existing articles. The most important thing is that the article has to score 100% On-Page SEO according to Easy WP SEO plugin, and containing minimal 500 words.

 

# 11. After the article is published, we can start building backlink to it. Either using free backlink service (more on this in my next email) or outsourcing the backlink to someone else.

 

Fiverr.com is a good place to start oursourcing our backlink. It's cheap, and there are a lot of provider there. You can find almost any gigs about SEO in Fiverr such as social bookmark, edu/gov backlink, blog commenting service, SENukeX, article submission to UAW/MAN/AMR/SEO Linkvine, etc.

 

To get the best service, sort the Fiverr search result based on Popularity, and I usually only order gigs that already has minimal 10 good reviews, with max 4 days delivery time.

 

That's all. Of course, this is only the blueprint from what I usually do.

 

There is no exact formula, but you can start from this step by step examples to build more power to your website, and in the end, gain more traffic.
