Donny, Three Methods to Get Instant Traffic Without SEO

Hi Donny,

We always talk about SEO, so today let's talk about how to bring visitors to our website without SEO. For a new website, if we only rely on SEO efforts, visitors will come slowly and took some time.

With any of the methods below, we can drive instant traffic while we waited for our SEO results.

# 1. Social network

Publish our new site on Stumbleupon, Facebook, and Twitter to get instant traffic. Unfortunately, visitors who come are not so targeted. This method is most suitable for personal blogs or news sites, and not very suitable for business-oriented sites, such as online stores, affiliate/review websites, or AdSense sites.

 

From my experience, it is easier to get instant traffic from Stumbleupon compared to Digg or other bookmarking sites. Especially for how to/tip and trick articles, and funny pictures/videos. 

If you do not have much time, you can find someone in Fiverr.com to provide you with Stumbles, Likes, or Re-tweets for $5.

# 2. Blog commenting with a little twist

Unlike the blog commenting to get backlinks, where we find high PageRank pages; to get an instant traffic, we try to be the first to comment on a newly published blog post.

It's easy actually. We just need to create a Google Alert for the keywords that are commonly used in our target niche. This way, every time a new blog post about the niche was published, we will be notified immediately.

Make sure your comment is interesting, related to the post content, and provide more value to the readers. Do not leave a spam comment, most likely will be deleted by the admin, and the reader will not want to visit our site.

This type of instant traffic is very targeted, and is suitable for all types of sites, both personal and business-oriented sites.

# 3. Traffic Dundee, a viral, free, and pre-sold traffic

Traffic Dundee is the most genius among the three methods.  A simple free method, yet very powerful to drive a large number of buyers' traffic to our website, in all types of niche.

The traffic is most suitable for business-oriented sites, whether to offer products directly or to gather e-mail list.

Measure Our SEO Efforts by Tracking Our Keyword Ranking

Hi Donny,

A few days a go, a friend asked me about how to check our site's ranking for each keyword that we target. I think this is a really good piece of information, and I would also like to share it with you.

Actually, there are many tools out there that we can use, but the following is my favorite tools:

1. Rank Checker Firefox Add-on

Pro's:
- It's a free Firefox add-on.
- We can export the results to csv file.
 
Con's:
- We need to manually input all the keywords that we want to track.

2. Traffic Travis v4

Install, create new project, and fill in the project settings like URL, keywords to track, how often to check the rankings, and how many results that we want to check.

Go to SEO page > Rankings. Then it will automatically check the ranking of each keyword that you put in the project settings.

Pro's:
- It's free,
- Has a lot of other great features, like checking numbers of Backlink and Page Warnings (when there are an error in our on page SEO) for each individual page, and other keyword research features.
- We can use a proxy server.

Con's:
- It will only check the ranking of keywords that we put manually in the project settings.

3. Rank Tracker WordPress Plugin

Using the keyword use by search engine visitors, the plugin will track our SERP for that keyword, compare it with previous ranking, and when there is a movement in our ranking for that particular keyword, it will send us an email notification about it.

Install the plugin, go to the plugin admin page, choose email frequency (how often to send email notification of new or changed rankings), put your email address, select which Google locality you want to track, and its done.

Pro's:
- Don't need to manually input the keywords (automatically using the keywords use by visitors).
- Email notification for new keyword or movement in the ranking.
- We can find out which keywords that our web site actually ranks for.

Con's:

- It's cost me $27.

I used to use SEO Rank Reporter plugin, but I don't know why, the plugin seems to not working any longer now.

Donny, Achieving Perfect Score for On-Page SEO

Hi Donny,

 

Since Google Panda, the role of a unique quality article with minimum 500 words and optimize with the on-page SEO is become more important than before. When the competition is low, even with only good on-page SEO now we will be able to get into the first page of Google search results.

 

I am always use Easy WP SEO plugin to handle all-aspect of my website On-Page SEO. Basically, it'll compare our page (it create a preview of what our article look like when Google come to visit) with a list of On-Page optimization. When the plugin found something that not in the list, it will tried to create it automatically, but when it can't, it will tell us so we can fix it manually.

 

Of course you can always handle those On-Page aspect manually. To help you with that, you can download the checklist of On-Page SEO to be compare with your article here.

Usually, it is quiet easy to achieve 80%+ score, but to achieving the perfect 100% On-Page score is kind of difficult.

 

Here are some tricks that I usually used to get the perfect 100% on-page score:

 

#1. Keyword inside H1, H2, and H3 title

 

H1 - Make sure your theme using H1 for post title.

H2 - We can add subtitle with keyword in H2 format right after the article title or inside the article content.

H3 - Similar to H2 above, or we can make the title of Related Post in H3 format and contain targeted keyword(s). 

 

For example: "Posts Related to Post Title (which always contain keyword)"

 

#2. Description meta tag begins with keyword.

 

Make the description begin with keywords. If it is not possible to form a sentence, we can always create a description like this one:

 

"Main Keywords. Short description about the article here."

 

#3. Content contains keyword in anchor text of at least one external link.

 

Change a keyword to be a link to other website. But never link to competitor's website. The easiest way is creating a link to websites like Wikipedia, About.com, or even Google itself.

 

For example:

 

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=MAIN+KEYWORD

http://www.google.com/search?q=MAIN+KEYWORD

http://search.about.com/?q=MAIN+KEYWORD

etc.

 

If you choose to hide those external links, you can always make it not to look like a link by using a code like this:

 

<a style="color: #333" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=MAIN+KEYWORD">MAIN KEYWORD</a>

 

Change the color code #333 into your theme default font color.

 

The other on-page SEO criteria are quiet easy to fulfill. So, with those tips and tricks above, I hope you could achieve perfect 100% on-page SEO score.

Donny, Important! Google Panda Update and SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2

 Hi Donny,

 

Related to the latest Google's algorithm update known as Panda, I think it is necessary to deliver several important information as follows:

 

As you know, Google Panda is intended to remove pages that are considered as low quality page from Google search. 

 

"Improve it or remove it. With Google's Panda Update, low-quality content can impact an entire domain, but removing these pages - or moving Them to a different domain - can help your rankings, " says Google's Michael Wyszomierski. 

 

Because of that reason, I don't recommend you to activate SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2's "Convert search terms into links to search page" feature.

 

This feature used to be a very good feature to increase indexed pages, but now it is better for you to not using it anymore. To make friend with Google Panda, always put high quality unique contents and strengthen On-Page SEO on the content page with the targeted keywords.

 

Some people even said that now, the most important thing is On-Page SEO, instead of backlink. For me, both are equally important, but I believe that On-Page SEO becomes way much more important than before Panda was updated.

 

As a guidance, you can download and print this On-Page SEO checklist.

 

For On-Page SEO automation, I used to use SEO pressor Plugin, but I don't use it anymore. I found out that Easy WP SEO plugin is way easier to use with more complete feature compared to SEO Pressor.

Step by Step Blueprint to Increase Traffic using Keywords from SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2

Hi Donny,

 

This time I would like to give you some ideas about what you can do with keywords from SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 plugin. As usual, the main purpose of this steps is to increase the number of visitors to your website. 

 

Below is the step by step blueprint of what I usually do: 

 

# 1. Grab all keywords from the 500 most popular and recent search terms on "WordPress Admin > Settings > SEO SearchTerms 2 > More stats: 500".

 

Or if you like to have more keywords, 1000 keywords for example, use this URL:

YOURSITE-COM/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=searchterms-tagging2.php&stats=1&count=1000

 

Change YOURSITE-COM with your blog URL, and count=1000 into any number of search terms that you want to retrieve.

 

# 2. Use Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find related keywords and to figure out how many traffic from each keyword. For you to remember, the limit of maximum input is 100 keywords, so this research process has to be done several times. And also remember to login first to your Google Adwords account to get a maximum 800 keywords in the result.

 

# 3. Filter the result base on Local Monthly Searches

(Exact Match) and Approximate CPC if your website displays Adsense ads. Personally, I use 300 Exact monthly searches and  a minimum Approximate CPC $1.

 

# 4. Export/download all filtered keywords to CSV file.

 

# 5. Combine all downloaded files from Google Keyword Tool into a single CSV file.

 

# 6. Import the CSV  file to your favorite keyword research software. I personally use Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer (SKCA), because it really simple and the result are easier to understand compare to Market Samurai.

 

# 7. Run SKCA to figure out how high the competition level is (based on the number of Allintitle competitors, each site's PageRank in page one, ect) and the level of commercialization of each keyword (based on how many ads appear in the search result, etc).

 

# 8. Export the final result from SKCA to CSV file.

 

# 9. Open CSV file from SKCA in Microsoft Excel. This is the superiority of SKCA, it gives rank for each keywords based on the competition level and the level of commercialization of the keyword and divides the category into 5: Terrible, Bad, Good, Great, and Excellent.

 

We can safely assume that all keywords in Excellent, Great and Good category are having good traffic, low level of competition and a lot of ads.

 

# 10. Write new article base on the keywords from SKCA, or edit the existing articles. The most important thing is that the article has to score 100% On-Page SEO according to Easy WP SEO plugin, and containing minimal 500 words.

 

# 11. After the article is published, we can start building backlink to it. Either using free backlink service (more on this in my next email) or outsourcing the backlink to someone else.

 

Fiverr.com is a good place to start oursourcing our backlink. It's cheap, and there are a lot of provider there. You can find almost any gigs about SEO in Fiverr such as social bookmark, edu/gov backlink, blog commenting service, SENukeX, article submission to UAW/MAN/AMR/SEO Linkvine, etc.

 

To get the best service, sort the Fiverr search result based on Popularity, and I usually only order gigs that already has minimal 10 good reviews, with max 4 days delivery time.

 

That's all. Of course, this is only the blueprint from what I usually do.

 

There is no exact formula, but you can start from this step by step examples to build more power to your website, and in the end, gain more traffic.

Donny, Find Out What You Should/Can Do with Your Incoming Search Terms

 Hi Donny, 

 

This time I want to give you a little idea about what you can do with the keywords from the SEO Search Terms plugin. As always, the ultimate goal is to increase the number of visitors to your website. 

 

The following are the step by step blueprint of what I usually do: 

1. Get all the keywords from 500 popular search terms and 500 recent search terms ( from the plugin admin settings ). 
2. Use Google Keyword Tool to find related keywords and monthly traffic of each keywords (Google Keyword Tool limit the maximum input to 100 keywords, so it has to be done several times. Always login to your Adwords account to get the maximum 800 results.)
3. Filter the results with minimum 300 Exact searches per month and a minimum of $1 CPS if it is an Adsense website. 
4. Export all the filtered keywords to csv file. 
5. Combine all the csv files exported from the Google Keywords Tool results into single csv file. 
6. Import the csv file into your favorite research tool. I use the Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer (SKCA) software. 
7. Run SKCA to find out how high the level of competition and the commerciality level of each keywords. 
8. Export the final result from SKCA into a csv file. 
9. Open the csv file from SKCA on Excel, and remove all the keywords in the Terrible/Bad categories ( competition is to high and low commerciality keywords ). We can use all the keywords in the categories Amazing, Great and Good. 
10. Depending on what we needs, we can write a new article base on the keywords from SKCA, or editing an existing article. The most important thing is the article has to be having a 100% On-Page SEO score according to the Easy WP SEO plugin with minimum 500 words on it. 
11. Go to Fiverr, and look for gigs on SEO such as social bookmarking, .edu / .gov backlinks, blog commenting services, SENukeX, and article submissions to the blog networks (UAW, MAN, SEO Linkvine, etc). Sort the results by Popularity, and I usually will only order a gigs that have at least 10 good reviews with maximum 4 days delivery time. 

This is just a blueprint of what I usually do. There is no exact formula, but you can certainly use it as a basic example of what you can do with the incoming search terms to get more visitors to your website.

Version 1.5.3 Upgrade Notice

Hi Donny,

Most of you may have already seen an upgrade notice for SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 version 1.5.3 in your WordPress admin page. This upgrade is intended more to fix security hole in previous version which gives a chance for individuals to irresponsibly exploit.

Besides, there is a new feature to show the list of 100 articles that do not get traffic from search engine. There are an options there to view the articles, edit articles, and show them just by their URL only for easier import to SEO softwares such as Bookmarking Demon, etc.

The Extremely Easy Yet Accurate Method for Keyword Research

Thank you again for your time. In this email, I am about to share about the extremely easy yet accurate method for keyword research.

As you already know, we can tell a website will be a success since the beginning when we perform keyword research. That is how important keyword research is.

When perform keyword's research, we only need to find keywords with enough traffic, low competition level and have high commercial value. Other combinations of these factors, will result in a failed website.

The most-used keywords research tool is Market Samurai. Unfortunately, when using Market Samurai, even though we can get the traffic and commercial value in one go. We still need to check for the competition level one keyword after another. That is why I am using an alternative keyword tool called Stealth Keyword Competition Analyzer or SKCA.

With SKCA, we can get the competition level, commercial value and traffic of all the keywords in on go. One click of the button, and we get all the value needed. Not only that, base on those three factors, SKCA will automatically group the keywords into five categories: Terrible, Bad, Good, Great, and Amazing.

After using this tool for almost two months, I found out that for the Amazing keywords, we can get into the first page of Google's search results using only great on-page SEO ( I am using Easy WP SEO plugin for my on-page SEO ), NO BACKLINK needed at all. That is how great this tool is.

Usually I am combining all the keywords from Google Keyword Tools (~800 keywords) and Keyword Optimizer Pro (free tool, ~4000 keywords). Then I filter all the keywords base on their traffic and CPC, and import it to SKCA to get the final results and decide which keywords that I want to use.

Important! SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 Plugin and Google Panda Algorithm Update

 Hi Donny,

 

Regarding the latest update of Google algorithm, known as Panda Update, I feel obliged to convey some important information to you.

 

As you already know, Google Panda Update aims to remove the pages that are considered low-quality content from google search results.

 

"Improve it or remove it. With Google's Panda Update, low-quality content can impact an entire domain, but removing these pages - or moving Them to a different domain - can help your rankings, " says Google's Michael Wyszomierski.

 

And unfortunately, the search pages that are automatically created by SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 plugin, as well as the WordPress tags pages, are considered as low-quality content.

 

Therefore, I do not recommend to enable these two SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 features: 

 

1. "Save popular search terms as post tags", and 

2. "Convert search terms into links to search page". 

 

All the other features are save, and not contradictory to Google Panda Update.

 

In addition, to eliminate those pages from Google Index, you can add the following code into your site robots.txt file ( you can find it in the public_html folder ).

 

User-agent: *

Allow: /

Disallow: /search/

Disallow: /tags/

 

For now, Google has not perfomed Google Panda Update into all of their local sites, but I guess it'll be soon.

 

To make friends with Google Panda, always use high quality unique content, and strengthen the on-page SEO of those content in accordance with the keywords you target. Some people even said that the most important now is your on-page SEO, and not your backlinks (off page). For me, both is important, but I do believe that on-page SEO become more important then before.

To automate the on-page SEO, I used to using SEO Pressor plugin, but not anymore. I found out that this new plugin, called Easy WP SEO, has more complete on-page SEO features compare to SEO Pressor.
